Mike is a multi-instrumentalist who performs magic with stringed instruments and more. For The Queen Has Two Heads he's so far wielded guitar, mandolin, banjo, dobro and a variety of bases. The list continues to grow and yet the band has still only touched the outer limits of the Aladdin's Cave that is Mike's studio; TQH2H HQ.
Over his 30 year music career he has worked as a musical director, composer, producer and engineer and has played hundreds of gigs across Europe.
He played guitar and was co-songwriter for Red Bird Sky who played Folk Americana in the UK and Canada. Folkwords described his playing on the Paul Milner produced album as "intricate and versatile". Their second album, The Unravelling, was given a four star review by R2 and described as a "scintillating experience".
Mike has played on over 30 albums and composed over 200 songs. He co-wrote interlude music for The Beeps, and theme music for the BBC Radio 4 programme X Marks The Spot.
Alongside The Queen Has Two Heads he plays for blues artist Sean Taylor who has a growing worldwide following. Sean's latest album received a four-star review in Mojo and has been played on BBC Radio 2.
With The Queen Has Two Heads' drummer Kostas Bechlos Mike also plays for the Avant-Garde Jazz trio Told Americans. Fatea referred to that band's "expert musicianship" and this he brings to every musical project he touches, but that's not all he brings to the The Queen Has Two Heads; he's also a bit of a culinary maestro.
This man can do wonders with a dark roux, palm hearts and a mandolin!
